Marcie Reed

Since the age of 4, I knew I wanted to be an artist. I was happiest when creating and have recently regained that passion.

In high school, I attended art classes at Carnegie Mellon Museum in my home town, Pittsburgh, PA, from which I won a scholarship for pre-college classes at Carnegie Mellon University. I went on to earn a BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design.

I was assistant art director for Clarion Books and worked with Design Source while living in New York. When I moved out to East Hampton, I worked with lllographics in Southampton. In addition, l have illustrated scholastic and coloring books, audio cassettes, and games for children.

Even though I took a long hiatus to raise my 2 children, I never stopped observing and tucking away visual information throughout those years.

Now a burning need has grabbed me to reconnect with my creative side and utilize those stores and explore anew. I enjoy plein air painting and working with still life. Watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, and graphite are the mediums I work the most in.
