Anna Falco-Lane works as both a painter and a sculptor. Her sculptural work, in stone and terra cotta, reveals an evocative use of space and light. Her process is organic and instinctual allowing her to “get to know the stone”, culminating in strong and architectural but, at the same time, soft and sensuous sculptures that have significant presence.
Falco-Lane’s acrylic paintings are gestural abstractions. She constructs compositions of multiple layers. Sometimes using a palette knife she drags and scratches paint revealing hidden colors and discoveries below. Though abstract, the color and forms create their own narrative for possible subject matter. Her works have a painterly quality that gives depth and dimensionality to the canvas, an influence of her background as a sculptor.
Anna Falco-Lane lives and works in New York City and East Hampton, NY. Her works are in private collections and in corporations, for which she received commissions. She has exhibited extensively in the Hamptons and New York City. She has received awards from the Salmagundi Club in New York City, of which she has been a member since 1997. She received Honorable Mention at the 60th Annual Artist Members’ Exhibition, Guild Hall, East Hampton, NY, 1998.
