meperry59@earthlink.netAfter many years of using photography as a tool for painting, Mr. Perry is currently using his imagination and the history of painting to create locations where anything is possible.

Mark Perry is a painter residing in New York City and East Hampton, New York. Born and raised in Providence R.I., Mr. Perry studied Portraiture and Life Drawing at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) evening division, while working for ten years as an electrical draftsman for CE Maguire, an architectural engineering firm.

In 1987, Mr. Perry entered the Providence Art Club’s “Open Painting Show” and won the Milton Halladay prize for “Bonnie”  Portrait of a Woman, oil on canvas, 20”x26”.  He also worked privately with a small group of local artists on a weekly basis through most of his twenties.

In 1989, Mr. Perry moved to NYC and continued drawing from the live model at The Society Of Illustrator’s and the Spring St. Studio. In the mid-ninety’s Mr. Perry started spending time in East  Hampton making large scale landscapes in the studio using photography.
